These storyboards are the concepts for a game where the player is an astronaut stranded alone on a mining base on an asteroid. The main gameplay elements are making sure you as the astronaut have enough air and an intact suit to survive an alien attack. The astronaut is advised by an in-suit AI about incoming alien hordes, and a sense of claustrophobia is created by playing breathing and heartbeat audio cues. The player has time to prepare for the hordes by dropping turrets, gravity sinks, and landmines. The astronaut has a limited arsenal of weapons, and must use strategy to keep his station working to keep himself alive. Specific mechanics include a force gun that blows enemies back, gravity sinks that when dropped create extra gravitational fields to pin enemies down or slow them up, and lights that give the astronaut an advantage in the night.
An alternate way to approach the core concept of a stranded astronaut is to make a larger world that must be explored in order to escape, instead of just surviving as long as possible. Instead of waves, the character must journey to different locations to grab ammunition, guns, and air.
